Walking Trips
For a nice walk Schokland is the place for you. The round trip to see the many natural and cultural sights will take you easily two hours. A map is for sale in the Museum and De Gesteentetuin (Geo-garden). You may prefer to do one of the prepared trips that are shown on special route maps in Museum Schokland. The route can be done with a guide. Look for what is on offer under Excursions here.

Or you can go on a walk that you fancy yourself. Possibly combining it with one of the activities for children, such as the backpack scouting trip, or treasure digging in De Gesteentetuin (Geo-garden).

Cycling
There is a special cycle tour round the island, in all some 10 km. You can obtain a route map at the Museum with extra information. Of course, you can cycle where you wish. Along the route you can stop or rest at one of the benches on the island. Bicycles can be hired in the Museum. It is advisable to make reservations in advance.
The route can be done with a guide. Look for what is on offer under Excursions.


Routes
“The islanders and the water, love and hatred” (De Schokkers en het water: Liefde en haat)
Audio tour in Dutch. A discovery walk from Middelbuurt to Zuidpunt. The story about the daily life on the island is told by Marretje Kwakman, a 20 year old Schokland woman.

“Footprints in Clay” (Voetafdruk in klei)
Walking or cycling route (10 km) round the former island, that now rises above the flat polder countryside since the drainage. Start and finish at the Museum.

Other Routes
There are several cycle routes, that pass over Schokland in part or as a whole. For instance, the routes named Urk-Schokland-Urk. They can be obtained from the visitor’s center in De Gesteentetuin (Geo-garden), Museum Schokland or the various centers for Tourist Information.
You may link up your cycle tour with the route to Schokkerhaven or Emmeloord (town).
