There are many possibilities for enjoying a visit to Schokland.
Several times a year specially arranged packages are offered. They consist of a walk on Schokland, rounded off by a ‘warm’ reception in De Gesteentetuin (Geo-garden).
If you want an English speaking guide, please, let us know quite in advance. In case you bring your own interpreter, arrange with the guide before the trip starts, at what moments he will pause his talk to allow the interpreter to translate.
Pancake Walk on Schokland (Pannenkoekenwandeling)
During this walk, the guide takes you on a journey of discovery about Schokland. This journey through the present and the past shows you how life was lived on the island. The guide also pays attention to the way the site is managed, now and with an eye to the future. After returning to the visitor’s center, you will enjoy a delicious pancake to warm you up.
Pea-soup Walk around Schokland (Snertwandeling)
There is no better place for a delightful autumn walk than the countryside on and around Schokland with its natural and cultural history. During the walk you get to know the peculiar features of the landscape. At the end, after returning to the visitor’s center in De Gesteentetuin (Geo-garden), a hot cup of traditional Dutch pea soup, called ‘snert’, is served.
